Tabellio, a Belgian collaborative development initiative, joins the PloneGov project

by Zea Partners last modified 2007-09-18 15:02

Tabellio [http://www.tabellio.org] is a parliamentary toolbox, consisting of an information system for drafting, managing and publishing legislative documents and other parliamentary data; and of other generic tools for public administration.

Une version française de cet article est disponible ici.

TabellioTabellio is a joined effort of two Belgian regional parliaments: Parlement francophone bruxellois and the Parlement de la Communauté française.

Following a study made by academic partners (CETIC and Université Libre de Bruxelles) and a consecutive tender, two consortia (lead by software AG and Entr'Ouvert/PraKsys ) are currently under contract to rewrite the Tabellio toolbox in free/open source software. The chosen technical plateforms are Zope, Plone and OpenOffice.org. The contractors have the obligation to collaborate with similar projects to cover the functionnalities, reusing, adapting, developping or co-developping generic components, to be distributed in GPL (or similar copyleft license).

According to its collaborative standpoint, it is very natural for the Tabbelio project to join the fast growing PloneGov community, with the conviction that we can share best practices and build together generic components, for the benefit of all.

In case of interest we would be glad to send you more detailed information. Please write to: info (at) tabellio.org
