PloneGov in WhyFloss2007, Buenos Aires

by Roberto Allende last modified 2007-11-27 16:14

During december 6-7 in the WhyFloss 2007 conference to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Roberto Allende will present the talk: PloneGov: an international project for cooperation between governments open to Latin America.

Across the world several million regions, cities and communities are faced with the same situations and challenges in terms of e-government. So why not unite their efforts?

PloneGov aims to create a platform of Plone based e-Government initiatives in order to ease information, best practices and software sharing. The project involves developing, essentially by themselves, software applications for public administrations, enabling them to benefit from greater technological independence and together build tools that are truly suited to their needs.

PloneGov strategy mainly rests on two renowned multiplatform Open Source tools: Zope and Plone. In the talk, Roberto Allende, member of menttes and the Latin American contact for PloneGov, will describe the main goals of the project and opportunities for local governments.
